This much was confirmed in a recent interview with Game Informer in which Garvin was tasked with answering over 100 rapid-fire questions about Days Gone, and when the creative director was asked if players can customize what the main character wears, he succinctly responds with “No.” Interestingly enough, though, Deacon St. John’s appearance will change somewhat, as the brim of his hat will face forward during certain situations in the game.
Although some might be disappointed to learn that there won’t be a way for players to change Deacon St. John’s threads to make him look more unique in various settings, many will likely be okay with such a functionality not being an option. After all, considering the fact that Days Gone’s story is primarily focused on surviving in a post-apocalyptic landscape in which undead monsters called Freakers are lurking around every corner, fashion accessories would surely be the last thing on anyone’s mind.
Bearing all of this in mind, Days Gone looks to be shaping up as quite a realistic portrayal of what the world would look like after societal collapse due to the breakout of what appears to be a catastrophic viral pandemic that could infect every living creature. Of course, the best way to get a better idea of what the release will offer is to check out some actual footage from the title. Thankfully, Bend Studio recently put out a little more than 40 minutes of mission gameplay in order to get fans acquainted with what’s to come.
Days Gone is set to release at some point in 2019 for PlayStation 4.
