You’ll need a safe place to store the weapons you unlock, as well as an easy-to-access stash that lets you freely swap weapon loadouts. Days Gone offers both of these things, but, unfortunately, the game isn’t very clear about how to access them. Here’s how you can store weapons and swap loadouts in Days Gone.
How To Store Weapons
Storing weapons isn’t that important in the early hours of the game but it becomes quickly apparent that there is an abundance of firearms to unlock as Deacon progresses through each area. At some point, players will find themselves carrying more weapons than they’re capable of using.
Gun Lockers will keep all of Deacon’s gear safe but when and where to access them is a bit muddled.
Lockers can be found:
At any of the merchants found around camps. There are lockers located within Ambush Camp bunkers. Deacon will always have access to a Gun Locker in a safehouse. Lockers can even be found at NERO Checkpoints.

Accessing a Gun Locker will give Deacon access to all of his weapons and allow him to switch and swap loadouts freely. Talking to a merchant will give players the option to purchase firearms or access a Gun Locker.
Why Use Gun Lockers?
Gun Lockers become vitally important in the later areas within Days Gone. Hordes grow larger, enemies grow stronger, and weapons become useful in specific scenarios. Certain missions may call for fast-firing assault rifles, while others favor the long-range of a carbine. If it’s close-quarters, you’ll definitely want a shotgun, and sometimes the horde is so large you need additional magazine capacities and bigger guns.
Notes Concerning Gun Lockers
Although being able to store weapons and freely swap loadouts is insanely helpful for certain missions in Days Gone, the system is far from perfect. There are a few caveats that can make the system frustrating and players might find themselves scavenging for guns in the early game way more often than they use Lockers.
Lockers can only be used to store purchased or unlocked weapons (scavenged guns are not possible to store). Guns can only be purchased from merchants after gaining enough trust. (Trust can be earned by completing objectives in and around camps). Some weapons are unlocked (rather than purchased) as the story progresses. Weapons can be customized with attachments. Perhaps the biggest advantage is that Deacon can purchase ammo from Gun Lockers.
