Microsoft has yet to pull the curtain back on all of the new games coming to Xbox Game Pass in March 2022, but previous announcements have confirmed five day one games for next month. In fact, Xbox Game Pass will be kicking off its March 2022 offerings with a brand-new, day one release in the form of indie game FAR: Changing Tides, which is set to launch across multiple platforms next week on Tuesday, March 1.

Even though the FAR: Changing Tides release date is still a week away, reviews for the game have already hit the Internet, and it seems critics were mostly impressed. Many of the FAR: Changing Tides reviews have been positive, with reviewers giving particular praise to the game’s art style, sense of discovery, soundtrack, and more. So far, FAR: Changing Tides is one of the highest-rated new game releases of 2022 with an 84 overall rating and 91% of critics recommending it. And some high-scoring reviews haven’t even been counted yet, so it’s likely that its overall score will improve in the days ahead.
For those who may be unfamiliar with the game, FAR: Changing Tides is a sequel to FAR: Lone Sails. In it, players explore a post-apocalyptic world from a side-scrolling perspective, operating a special vehicle to maneuver across the land. FAR: Lone Sails reviews were mostly positive when it originally launched in 2018, but it definitely seems like critics think that FAR: Changing Tides is a step above its predecessor.
FAR: Changing Tides should ensure that March 2022 gets off to a good start for Xbox Game Pass subscribers, but there’s even more day one games for fans to look forward to next month. Besides FAR: Changing Tides, there’s also snowboarding game Shredders launching March 17, narrative-driven indie game A Memoir Blue releasing March 24, grand strategy game Crusader Kings 3 making its console debut on March 29, and top-down action-RPG Weird West releasing March 31.
March 2022 is shaping up to be a huge month for Xbox Game Pass based on what’s been announced so far, though it’s worth pointing out that the full lineup has yet to be revealed. Because of the way Microsoft likes to reveal new Xbox Game Pass games, fans usually have to wait until the start of any given month to showcase what’s coming in the first two weeks. The new games coming to Xbox Game Pass in the second half of the month are then announced around the 15th, so there’s a lot more for Xbox Game Pass subscribers to look forward to in March.
FAR: Changing Tides launches March 1 for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
