Washington will play at Boise State on Friday, Sept. 4, on ESPN,  the Huskies athletic department announced Monday.

The previously announced game had been slated for either Thursday, Sept. 3 or Saturday, Sept. 4. Kickoff time will be determined at a later date.

Petersen spent eight seasons as head coach at Boise State prior to leaving for Washington prior to last season. He compiled a 92-12 records with the Broncos. He was Boise State’s offensive coordinator from 2001-05 before becoming head coach. He finished 8-6 in his first season at Washington.

The opener will mark the Huskies’ first trip to Boise. Washington leads the all-time series 2-1, with a pair of regular-season wins against the Broncos at home and the loss coming in the 2012 Las Vegas Bowl.
